While I believe this book is meant to be a bedtime story I think it has too much going on in the illustrations. Don't get me wrong the illustrations are great, but it is what is hidden in the illustrations that make it a little too busy for bedtime. With that said I like this book because children h...

I really liked the watercolor and digital paintings, and the way the author blended some of the animals into the background, like the owls and the deer. I liked the way the illustrator used light and texture in her paintings. Some of the animals were not very obvious, making it a good "seek and find...

Takes a look, deep in the forest, and sees life, fun, joy, and a slight touch of danger at night! Great book of wonder and relaxation. Perfect story for children's bedtime and to place on a guest's bedroom night stand. The language is exquisite and the pictures are lovely and mellow. Great collabora...

I love the way this book sounds as it is read out loud. It has a lovely rhythm to it, much like the rhythm you hear when you listen to nighttime sounds outside. The illustrations have a dreamlike quality to them with great nocturnal camouflage going on. This is definitely a book to look at close up,...

In verse and watercolor type illustrations, of purples, blues, and greens and browns. Good tie in with forest animals and habitat science lesson in elementary scho...

Absolutely gorgeous book with abstract concepts. I wouldn't recommend reading this unless your kids are sitting with you. If they're on the other side of the room (like mine were), the beauty is going to be lost on them since the text is wonderfully "out there". I added some additional owl hooting s...
