I really, really liked this book! I read the author's other novel, Bad Call and liked it as well. But Deadfall was on a whole new level of awesome. Deadfall is told by alternating between Cory and Ty's current situation (finding a car accident with someone tied up in the trunk) and ...

I was lucky enough to read an ARC of this slow burn, psychological thriller. I found myself heavily invested in the characters, hoping against hope for the Bik brothers. Cory stole my heart. My other favorite character was Benny. He was unpredictable, terrifying and spot on. The scene ...

So I would give this book 3.5 stars if that was possible. I cant believe with the adult content in the book that it is considered YA, but I would recommend this book for kids maybe 16 and older. The story itself was pretty intriguing, albeit it took me a few chapters to get into it. ...

I didn't find the narrative interesting. The story starts in the past, 16 months ago, and then jumps to the present. For some reason, I wasn't interested in the past though I know it was somehow tied to the present. In short, this book was not for me. Thank you Netgalley for pro...

Actual Rating: 4.5 whew...i?ve never been so stressed out by a book before. (which is totally a compliment in this case) it was suspenseful, had realistic characters, and a very well plotted thriller. The ONLY reason I docked .5 is because the ending felt a little rushed + I wasn...

I received a copy of this book for the blog tour. Opinions shared are mine. I loved the edgy back-and-forth mystery of Deadfall. There are a lot of dark topics included in the plot, but they?re not so detailed that I wouldn?t let my teen read it. Fast paced and sometimes frenet...

A little slow at first but when it really picked up it has me in its hooks. A great story about running away from demons of the past, brotherhood, and getting into the middle of things you weren't meant to see. Glad I stuck with it and finished it. ...

This book kept my interest and kept me reading until the end, but I did feel it was playing the topics brought up a little too safe. I did like that it had me guessing and that I didn't guess correctly (which rarely happens), and I also liked that I was able to relate to Corey so well....

Interesting story, a little slow but developed into a solid action suspense story. ...

Started off pretty strong but quickly became muddled. The bouncing timeline and strange correlations made it just blah. ...

Hard-hitting thriller TRIGGER WARNINGS: Emotional, physical and sexual abuse, implied rape, sex trafficking, violence. This was a dark, difficult book for me to read. Don't get me wrong - it's an excellent book. But know that just because this book has two teen brother protagon...

Warnings: child abuse, child sexual abuse, sex trafficking, violence This mystery thriller delivers its story in two timelines- the present where these twins find a girl trapped in the boot of a car in an accident, and their life 16 months before, counting down to how they came to b...

I really, really liked this book! I read the author's other novel, Bad Call and liked it as well. But Deadfall was on a whole new level of awesome. Deadfall is told by alternating between Cory and Ty's current situation (finding a car accident with someone tied up in the trunk) and ...

This story was a good survival story and a good story about trauma in children and overcoming bad circumstances. Mind you, it?s a very dramatized story about that, but nonetheless it worked. The actual thriller aspect was a lot less heavy than the synopsis suggested. However, the wri...

The change in chronology from about sixteen months ago to the present is what kept the action moving as twin brothers discover a girl in a trunk and are then part of a more sinister plot that leaves them battered and broken when that sometimes seemed tame to the things they experience ...

Deadfall by Stephen Wallenfels is a book about twin brothers, their horrible father and how they ended up in the foster care system. My above description of this book sounds vague and that is because I want it to be. This is one of those books where you need to read everything in o...

I was lucky enough to read an ARC of this slow burn, psychological thriller. I found myself heavily invested in the characters, hoping against hope for the Bik brothers. Cory stole my heart. My other favorite character was Benny. He was unpredictable, terrifying and spot on. The scene ...

3.5 Stars Deadfall is a thrilling new young adult mystery that fans of survivalist fiction are going to love. Here's what I liked and disliked about the book: Liked: Characters - The twins, Ty and Cory, are completely different in almost every way but they stick together and ...

Deadfall began with real promise, its structure ? alternating between the increasingly recent past and the present in the style of a film noir ? plus some choice ?reveals? along the way meant I was keen to keep reading and find out how the increasingly complicated plot would ti...

This story begins when Benny Bic takes his twin 16-year-old sons Cory and Ty on a road trip for their birthday. Benny is a drunk who has taken to physically abusing Cory since his wife left the family a couple of years earlier. Ty is the one who is the most like their father, including...

Special thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book! If you advertise a book that involves two brothers on the run who find a kidnap victim in the trunk of a car, I will probably be enticed. Given that reality, it's not surprising that I was interested in DEADFALL ...

A trapped in the wilderness thriller that seems to be Wallenfells go to has just enough intrigue to keep you guessing as the past and present meet resulting a bloody conclusion. ?Deadfall? goes back and forth in time telling the story of twin brothers Ty and Cory trying to make...

I'm not typically a big mystery/thriller fan; I prefer my books a little bit more fantastical. But there sometimes comes a book that peaks my interest, and I pick it up. Deadfall by Stephen Wallenfels was one such book, and is going on my small thriller shelf after reading this tense s...

Title: Deadfall Author: Stephen Wallenfels Genre: Thriller, YA Rating: 4 out of 5 Ty and Cory Bic are running away from the danger and drama in their lives when they come upon a dying deer in the middle of the road, and tire tracks swerving off the road beside it. Though they nee...

CNF at 60%. Probably one of the better books in my CNF folder, but still in the folder nonetheless. This story dragged out and could not hold my interest. The author lacked voice and an engaging MC to the point where the mystery of the story and the continuous cliffhangers couldn?t e...

The alternating timelines were interesting at first, but lost their luster (hehe) about half way through. What liked most about this book was the relationship between the twins. What I didn?t like about their relationship was how manipulative and hotheaded one of them could be. O...

The change of perspective was confusing in the beginning; first few chapters, it was hard to tell that it was Cory narrating. This is a nice, contained book. It doesn't deviate from the plot described. I got exactly what I was promised on the inside cover flap. 3.5 I have mixed f...

Interesting story, a little slow but developed into a solid action suspense story. ...

The bouncing timeline and strange correlations made it just blah. ...

While the premise grabbed my attention because it deals with brothers (twins even), the writing style wasn't for me. ...

This is a solid book! Drugs, murder, a stash of money....a secret shelter? Told in a back and forth style that works, Wallenfells had me hooked from the beginning. ...

3.5 stars. Not sure how I feel about this one. I guess I thought it would be better than it was. Will try something else by this author, but definitely not one that would be on my gotta read it list. ...

A dual timeline that jumps between explaining the boys history and what they are running from in the present. It does a good job of keeping with the suspense and adding some light hearted moments in a very dark book. ...
